At this critical moment, our message to Germany is clear: Do not run from the law. Stand on the side of justice.
An important stage has been reached in Nicaragua's case against Germany before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Nicaragua argues that Germany has violated its obligations under international law by providing arms and military support to Israel. Germany, meanwhile, is calling for the case to be dismissed and argues that the Court lacks jurisdiction in the matter.
At this critical moment, our message to Germany is clear:
Do not run from the law. Stand on the side of justice.
At a time when thousands of civilians in Gaza have lost their lives and a devastating humanitarian catastrophe continues, Germany's continued military support for Israel is unacceptable.
We recognize Germany's historical responsibility stemming from the Holocaust against the Jewish people. But “Never Again” is not a promise made only about the past. It is a commitment to defend the right to life of civilians wherever they are in the world today.
We therefore call on Germany to halt its arms and military support to Israel, to respect the proceedings of the International Court of Justice, and to fulfill its obligations under international law.
Germany must stand on the side of justice, not on the side of history's mistakes.
