We demand justice for Gaza. We demand freedom and dignity for the Palestinian people. We will continue to raise our voices until international law is applied equally to all.

From the NATO Summit: We Demand Justice for Gaza, Not Silence — S.O.S.der

We demand justice for Gaza. We demand freedom and dignity for the Palestinian people. We will continue to raise our voices until international law is applied equally to all.

We address the leaders of NATO gathered in Türkiye.

The humanitarian devastation in Gaza has reached a point that can no longer be justified by any political calculation. Tens of thousands of civilians were massacred, while children, women, and the elderly have borne an unbearable cost. The healthcare system, educational infrastructure, and the basic conditions necessary for human life have been largely destroyed. The United Nations and numerous international organizations have repeatedly warned the world about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Despite this, the world's most influential actors have failed to demonstrate the political will required to stop the tragedy.

While the violations of international law and the grave international crimes committed by Israel in relation to the genocide in Gaza are being examined by independent judicial bodies, the continued unconditional political and military support provided by many states—particularly the United States—has severely undermined confidence in the impartiality of international law. The rule of law cannot be applied according to the interests of the powerful, and human rights cannot depend on geography or identity.

NATO speaks of security, the rule of law, and shared values as its founding principles. Yet its silence—or its inadequate response—to the catastrophe unfolding in Gaza raises profound questions about the universality of those values. Security is meaningful only when it protects not only borders, but also human life.

Our appeal is also directed to Türkiye, the host of this Summit.

Türkiye has consistently voiced strong support for the Palestinian cause in international forums and has repeatedly drawn attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. However, strong rhetoric alone is no longer sufficient. There is now a growing expectation that Türkiye will turn its diplomatic influence into concrete initiatives capable of producing meaningful outcomes on global platforms such as the NATO Summit. The Palestinian people expect not only expressions of solidarity, but also decisive diplomatic action to uphold international law, protect civilians, ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid, secure a permanent ceasefire, and advance the military and economic isolation of Israel.

As S.O.S.der, we further call upon the Government of Türkiye to ensure that the criminal complaints we have filed against Turkish-Israeli dual nationals alleged to have committed war crimes in Gaza are processed without delay and in accordance with the rule of law.

Today, we call upon every leader seated at this summit:

  • Demonstrate the political courage necessary to stop the bloodshed in Gaza.
  • Support the full implementation of international humanitarian law for the protection of civilians in Palestine, and contribute to independent and impartial investigations into alleged violations.
  • Take concrete steps to secure a permanent ceasefire, guarantee unhindered humanitarian access, and ensure accountability for violations of international law.

Silence is not neutrality. Silence risks prolonging human suffering.

History will remember not what those in power said, but what they did to protect human life.

We demand justice for Gaza.

We demand freedom and dignity for the Palestinian people.

We will continue to raise our voices until international law is applied equally to all.
